NEARING THE END OF THE BEGINNING: PART 3

  1. For everyone on earth (Luke 21:29-35; Joshua 1:9; Psalm 27:14)
  2. Keep your rhythm (Luke 21:36-38; Isaiah 41:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6; 1 Corinthians 6:1)

Luke 21:29-35

29 Then he gave them this illustration: “Notice the fig tree, or any other tree. 30 When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near. 31 In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near. 32 I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things have taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear. 34 “Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, 35 like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.

Joshua 1:9

9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Psalm 27:14

14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

Luke 21:36-38

36 Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.” 37 Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives. 38 The crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.

Isaiah 41:10

10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (Scripture Reading)

5 For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. 6 So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

1 Corinthians 6:1

1 As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.
