ARTY THE ARMADILLO
by Pastor Mike Fortune

  1. Jesus gives us a job to do (Luke 10:1; Matthew 9:9)
  2. That we should take seriously (Luke 10:2-6; Colossians 3:23-24)
  3. There will be highs and lows (Luke 10:7a; Isaiah 40:26)

Luke 10:1

1 The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.

Matthew 9:9

9 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector's booth. "Follow me and be my disciple," Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him.

Luke 10:2-6

2 These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. 3 Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. 4 Don't take any money with you, nor a traveler's bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. And don't stop to greet anyone on the road. 5 "Whenever you enter someone's home, first say, 'May God's peace be on this house.' 6 If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you.

Colossians 3:23-24

23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Luke 10:7a

7 Don't move around from home to home. Stay in one place, eating and drinking what they provide.

Isaiah 40:26 NIV (Scripture reading)

Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing
