A PRIEST FOR ADVENTISTS
BlueFishTV: Signs of Forgiveness (In DropBox)

Main Point: Adventists need a better priest

  1. For forgiveness (Hebrews 5:1-3; Exodus 32:25; 1 Samuel 2:12, 22-23; Jeremiah 20:1-2; John 18:12-14; Acts 5:17-18, 23:8)
  2. From the Son (Hebrews 5:4-6; Hebrews 7:28)
  3. Who conquers (Hebrews 5:7-10; Genesis 14:18-20; Revelation 12:11)

Scripture from NLT

Hebrews 5:1-10
1Every high priest is a man chosen to represent other people in their dealings with God. He presents their gifts to God and offers sacrifices for their sins. 2And he is able to deal gently with ignorant and wayward people because he himself is subject to the same weaknesses. 3That is why he must offer sacrifices for his own sins as well as theirs. 4And no one can become a high priest simply because he wants such an honor. He must be called by God for this work, just as Aaron was. 5That is why Christ did not honor himself by assuming he could become High Priest. No, he was chosen by God, who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father." 6And in another passage God said to him, "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." 7While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. 8Even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.9In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. 10And God designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

1 Samuel 2:12-13,22-23
12Now the sons of Eli were scoundrels who had no respect for the LORD 13or for their duties as priests. 22Now Eli was very old, but he was aware of what his sons were doing to the people of Israel. He knew, for instance, that his sons were seducing the young women who assisted at the entrance of the Tabernacle. 23Eli said to them, "I have been hearing reports from all the people about the wicked things you are doing. Why do you keep sinning?

Jeremiah 20:1-6
1Now Pashhur son of Immer, the priest in charge of the Temple of the LORD, heard what Jeremiah was prophesying.2So he arrested Jeremiah the prophet and had him whipped and put in stocks at the Benjamin Gate of the LORD's Temple.

John 18:12-14
12So the soldiers, their commanding officer, and the Temple guards arrested Jesus and tied him up.13First they took him to Annas, the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest at that time.14Caiaphas was the one who had told the other Jewish leaders, "It's better that one man should die for the people."

Acts 5:17-18
17The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.

Acts 23:8
8For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe in all of these.

Hebrews 7:28
28The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever.

Genesis 14:18-20
18And Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, brought Abram some bread and wine.19Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. 20And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you."

Revelation 12:11
11And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.
