THE MIGHTY MITES
by Pastor Mike Fortune

Thai Life Insurance: Believe in Good

  1. Jesus notices the little things we give (Mark 12:41; Deuteronomy 16:16-17)
  2. The less we have, the more we give (Mark 12:42-43; DA 615)
  3. Jesus' good sacrifice motivates ours (Mark 12:44; Luke 16:10; Exodus 25:2)

Mark 12:41-44
41Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. 43Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. 44For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on."

Deuteronomy 16:16-17
16All men must appear before the LORD your God at the place he chooses, but they must not appear before the LORD without a gift for him.17 All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the LORD your God.

Tears of joy filled her eyes as she felt that her act was understood and appreciated.

Mother Teresa
The less we have, the more we give. Seems absurd, but it's the logic of love.

Luke 16:10 (Scripture Reading)
10"If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities. 11And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?

Exodus 25:2
Tell the people of Israel to bring me their sacred offerings. Accept the contributions from all whose hearts are moved to offer them.

Once upon a time, a pig and a chicken were looking for work. They came upon a sign which was advertising a bazaar and breakfast which was going to be held in a few days. At the bottom of the sign the menu was given, it read "Help needed to serve breakfast with Ham and eggs. Apply for job here." The chicken turned to the pig and said, "See! This is an ideal place for me to work. I just give them my eggs and I will be well fed. "Yes," said the pig, "but yours is only a contribution, mine is a SACRIFICE."
