WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT HELL
by Pastor Mike Fortune

- Is real (Matthew ; Matthew 25:41,46; Revelation 20:10a; Revelation ; Romans )
- Not forever (Revelation 20:10b; Revelation ; Isaiah 34:8-10; Jude 7; Jeremiah ; Exodus 21:2,5-6; 1 Samuel ,28; Jonah 2:1-2,6; Matthew )
- Ends in ashes (Daniel 9:3; 2 Peter 2:6; Ezekiel 28:18-19; Isaiah 47:14; Malachi 4:1; Psalm 37:10,20,35-36; Obadiah 16)
28 Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone…
15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
23 The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone…where they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever…
8 For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion. 9 Its streams shall be turned into pitch, and its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch. 10 It shall not be quenched night or day; its smoke shall ascend forever.
7 As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
27 But if you will not heed Me to hallow the Sabbath day, such as not carrying a burden when entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
2 If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; and in the seventh he shall go out free and pay nothing.…5 But if the servant plainly says, ‘I love my master’…he shall serve him forever.
1 Samuel ,28
22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will take him, that he may appear before the Lord and remain there forever.”
28 Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there.
2 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly. 2 And he said…I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever…
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
3 Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
2 Peter 2:6
6 Turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly.
18 I turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who saw you. 19 All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, and shall be no more forever.
Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be warmed by, nor a fire to sit before!
For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up says the LORD of hosts that will leave them neither root nor branch.
For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more.
But the wicked shall perish; and the enemies of the Lord, like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree. 36 Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.
And they shall be as though they had never been.
