Theological Hmm: While they were contending for the highest place, He to whom every knee shall bow, He whom the angels of glory count it honor to serve, bowed down to wash the feet of those who called Him Lord. He washed the feet of His betrayer. Now, having washed the disciples’ feet, He said, “I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” In these words Christ was not merely enjoining the practice of hospitality. More was meant than the washing of the feet of guests to remove the dust of travel. Christ was here instituting a religious service. It was to be observed by the disciples, that they might ever keep in mind His lessons of humility and service. - Ellen White

• TJA DINNER AND MOVIE NIGHT JAN 26 @ 6:30pm. Dinner is $5/person or $20/family of 5. Movie is free with snacks available for purchase during the movie. Everyone is invited to come to this fundraiser for the school

• BAILEY FAMILY FUNDRAISER JAN 27 2-8pm at Sylvania American Legion 5880 Centennial Rd, Sylvania, OH. Marcus was the victim of a brutal attack with a baseball bat. He is fighting for his life. This fundraiser will benefit the family as they have not been able to work while being at his side
• "SOUP" (sometimes its subs or pizza or tacos...) FOR YOU CONTINUES JAN 30 (and 2/6; 2/13). We will be discussing Tom Hughes' book Perfect Grace! at 6:30pm. Books are available in the church office for a donation of $5. Let us show you how to lead a small group. Then you can tell others how somewhere else. Would make a great Six Week Group book
• TRAFFICK JAM THUR JAN 31 from 4pm - 9pm. at UT Student Union Auditorium at the University of Toledo sponsored by The Daughter Project and International Justice Mission. This will be a day dedicated to raising awareness and fundraising for Toledo anti-human trafficking efforts. There will be a concert held by local bands, tons of games, and numerous informational booths from some of Toledo's community organization that help combat human trafficking. You can purchase supper there including pizza, chicken nuggets, hummus, chips, and drinks
• YOUTH MISSION TRIP RSVP Teens and parents are invited to contact Jen Landeros ASAP (jennifer@landeros.net) if you're interested in going with ADRA to Brazil on a mission trip in JUL 2019

• TOBOGGANING FEB 2 Join the group going to Pokagon State Park, Angola, Indiana for the ultimate Tobogganing experience. Meet at 4pm on FEB 2, canopy side of the church. Don’t be late! Cost is $5 and includes pizza on the way home

• CARDS FOR SOLDIERS FEB 12 at 6:30-8:30pm in the Fellowship Room. The parts for the handmade cards are precut and ready to assemble. The cards are provided to our servicemen who in turn can send them to their loved ones. Everyone is invited to help. Please bring scissors and scrapbooking adhesive if you have them. All we are asking is to please let Brenda Szana know if you will be attending so she can know how many to plan for. • VALENTINES FOR TOLEDO FEB 16 Our annual winter church evangelistic effort is coming so save the date and time 7-8:30pm for a very special concert featuring teenage piano protege Elle Rhee. Invite cards will be available two weeks before. This year's love offering will benefit the local non-profit organization she started called "Spectacles for Students"

• FIFTH SERVICE SABBATHS 2019 The church will be open on months with a fifth Sabbath but no organized worship service will occur 3/30; 6/29; 8/31 and 11/30. We encourage you instead to plan ahead as Sabbath Schools or Six Week Groups or church friends to be a blessing to others. The older members are invited to make Cards for Soldiers in the fellowship hall. A list of church members shut in that teams could visit will also be available. A sign up sheet to serve the midday meal at Cherry Street will be available. Additional service opportunities as you submit them will be listed on the bulletin board. It has all kinds of resources and articles related to intelligent design and evolution and dinosaurs and many other interesting subjects. I enjoy reading their quarterly email update. • ONLINE BIBLE STUDIES The Discover Bible Study series is online. Anyone can enroll and complete them in the privacy and comfort of their own home minus all the USPS mailings. Good for friends and family interested in becoming acquainted with the Bible and finding answers for facing the issues and challenges you deal with every day. • OUR STORY Our church website at the very bottom of the home page has an excellent downloadable resource featuring our story and explanation of our unique Christian Adventist emphasis. It's called the Toledo First Assimilation Manual and if you've never read it, I would encourage you to do so. And don't forget, God loves you like crazy. And so do we (2 Corinthians 5:13-14 NLT)!
