END IT NOW: ADVENTISTS SAY NO TO VIOLENCE
by RosaLinda Contreraz-Harris and Pastor Mike

1. It’s not your fault (Ezekiel 45:9; Quote)
2. It’s not God’s will (Psalm 11:4-6)
3. I will end it now (Psalm 11:7; Quote)

Ezekiel 45:9 (Scripture Reading)
9 For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Enough, you princes of Israel! Stop your violence and oppression and do what is just and right. Quit robbing and cheating my people out of their land. Stop expelling them from their homes, says the Sovereign LORD.

Jackson Katz
We talk about how many women were raped last year, not how many men raped women. We talk about how many girls in a school district were harassed last year, not about how many boys harassed girls. We talk about how many teenage girls in the state of Vermont got pregnant last year, rather than how many boys and men impregnated teenage girls.

Psalm 11:4-6
4 But the LORD is in his holy Temple; the LORD still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth. 5 The LORD examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence. 6 He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked, punishing them with scorching winds.

Psalm 11:7
7 For the righteous LORD loves justice. The virtuous will see his face.

Rob Bell
The violence isn't that surprising; what's surprising is that among all that violence are new ideas about serving and blessing and nonviolence. Here's what I mean: Do you find it primitive and barbaric to care for widows, orphans, and refugees? That's commanded in the book of Deuteronomy. Do you find it cruel and violent to leave a corner of your field unharvested so the poor can have something to eat? That's commanded in the book of Leviticus. Do you think people should be set free from slavery? That's the story of the book of Exodus. Do you think its good to love your neighbor? That's commanded in the book of Leviticus. One more truth about all that violence in the Bible: you being shocked and repulsed by the violence in those stories may be the the writer's intention in telling those stories. - What Is The Bible?
